Can't add my SmarTrip card to Wallet on Apple Watch

I just transferred all the cards in my Apple Wallet from my old iPhone to my new iPhone. I had all those cards added to my Apple Watch but after transferring, I had to remove them. I successfully added back all my debit and credit cards but, for some reason, I cannot add my SmarTrip card that is installed on my new iPhone. When I tried to add it in the Watch app, I get an error message that says "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay. An error occurred while setting up Apple Pay".

What can I do?

We see on their site that they have steps for adding this card type listed: https://www.wmata.com/fares/MobilePay/ApplePay.cfm

We'd recommend setting it up as they recommend. If you're doing that, and still run into the same issue, you may want to reach out to Apple directly to look into this with you further: Apple Support

Thank you. I had already followed those instructions to no avail.

But, I just gave it a try and then the system did transfer the card from my iPhone to my Apple Watch without any problem. Go figure...
