Apple TV 4K WiFi Adapter Wear Out?

Hi, Avizzo here.

I've had my Apple TV 4K for probably something 2, maybe 3 years. Love it! However, I'm experiencing something unique (possibly). Tried looking through here or just on Google generally with nobody else posting about this issue/question.

I thought maybe it was a WiFi related issue, but honestly, everything asides from my Apple TV (1) connect to the WiFi (2) experience no deduction in speeds and (3) don't randomly disconnect/buffer videos.

My Apple TV is just as far from the router as I am with my phone, but the speeds and connection are very poor on the Apple TV. This started happening maybe a week or so ago, and I thought nothing of it until it continued to have issues. The Apple TV will lose connection to the 5/5 connection strength WiFi, buffer my YouTube/Netflix videos or will just stop entirely until I restart a video.

Basically, what I'm getting at is that the connection is not the problem. I think it might be hardware related and was curious if it's possible for the WiFi adapter inside to just start experiencing failure?

Regards,

Avizzo

Wi-Fi is prone to interference. Interference from neighboring networks, interference for electrical wiring and appliances in your home, interference from shielding metal in the vicinity.

There are no moving parts for Wi-Fi, so no wear and tear from that. Extreme peaks in the power grid (without surge protector) can cause havoc on electronics, but probably not isolated to Wi-Fi specifically. Overheating can cause havoc on electronics, but probably not isolated to Wi-Fi specifically.

Do you think maybe the Apple TV has different types of sensitivity? The ATV is directly below the smart TV I’m using. The smart TV has no issues or interferences when I use YouTube or anything generally on it. Even with no other devices on or using power, the TV by itself works as intended and fine.

The ATV has been in the same place for 3-5 months and these issues have only started maybe a week ago. Not everything lasts forever, but you don’t think the interals could wear over time?
