Scroll and select with Apple Pencil 2 no longer working

Previously I was able to scroll and select then highlight text using Files on my iPad with the Apple Pencil 2. I then used the markup feature to make a note on a document, now I can’t switch back to scroll and select. I’ve gone through all the Apple Pencil settings, closing and reopening the Files app, and forgetting then resyncing the Apple Pencil. Nothing has worked and it is rather frustrating.

i know I’m not the first person to have this issue. But previous discussions did not provide a solution as seen here (Apple pencil 2 scroll through the document - Apple Community).

Any help would be appreciated, as I feel like I just lost most of the functionality of my Apple Pencil.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with scrolling on your iPad Air. We'd like to help.

You mentioned that you went through Settings but you were not able to locate anything that would help. Were you able to check what you have selected for Only Draw with Apple Pencil in Settings > Apple Pencil? This setting should be off so that Apple Pencil will scroll instead of having to use your fingers to swipe.

Let us know if that helps and we'll continue from there.

I am having the same problem and Only Draw with Apple Pencil is not on. Even if it were, that says that only Apple Pencil will draw, not that only Fingers scroll.
