MacBook Pro 2017 15inch display backlight

My laptop came up with backlights like many other users with the pro with the Touch Bar feature, and has now stopped displaying completely.

I understand that this issue is caused by the cables flexing and closing, and I am struggling why we the customers are punished for an oversight by apple. After saving up for a long time to by a £2000 laptop, it has now stopped working because I opened and closed the screen. I have also had issues with the keyboard ever since I got it, and haven’t been able to take it in as I needed it for working.

Apple are the most highly innovative and extraordinary company there is, but are now expecting me to pay £600 for a replacement screen. It really is a joke that this is the case, and I am left regretting my purchase, knowing that the airs have never produced any issues like this for half the price.

Surely there’s some compensation for this?

Apple has only acknowledged the problem with the MBPro 13" (2016) model even though the problem exists with the 15" models and even occurs in models as late as 2020 although much less frequently. Now that the laptop is five years old it is highly unlikely Apple will acknowledge any issues unless forced to do so by legal action since most of Apple's free repair programs are only valid for 3 or 4 years although once in a while Apple may cover an issue for up to five years.
