Is my only option buying a new Mac?

I have a iMAC 21.5 inch (late 2012) that I bought in May, 2013. I'm currently up to date with macOSCatalina 10.15.7. Last tax season I was notified by the tax software I use that I would need to update to macOSBigSur before the next tax season. I checked availability and discovered that BigSur is not compatible with my Mac because it was manufactured before 2015. There's nothing wrong with my Mac. It operates just fine. But does this incompatibility mean I'll have to buy a new Mac? Is there no way around this?

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.

Turn the device you have into the one you want. Have used this too to purchase both Apple Computers and iPhones. Also worked well.

Guaranteed Apple quality at an Apple Reduce Price and have used this from time to time. Worked well.
