Google drive unintended cursor select when trackpad's "Tap to click" is enabled

When editing Google Doc or Google Spreadsheet on Safari, when you tap a text and move somewhere else, the selection follows where the cursor goes. What I expect is: if I intend to select a range of text, I would press the trackpad, hold on the press and move to the end of selection. But when I don't press the trackpad, I don't expect the selection to appear.

This issue appears only when trackpad's "Tap to click" is enabled.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, yun-chih,

We understand you're experiencing some strange behavior from your Trackpad. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Check to see if this same behavior occurs in safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Safe mode could potentially clear up certain issues you may be experiencing. Restart as normal and test again.

If the issue continues, test in another user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Let us know the results.

Regards.
