Email on Macbook Air

I can access an email account on my iMac but not on my Macbook. The Macbook only allows imap and on my iMac it is a POP account. I try to change it to POP to match iMac but there is no option for this. It will not accept my password on the imap account. Is this an OS problem.

If you are accessing an email account from multiple devices all the devices need to be configured to use IMAP email protocol. POP protocol downloads the email to the first device that accesses the account thereby removing the email from being accessible by subsequent devices accessing the account. If your password is not being accepted, you have not configured the IMAP account correctly or you are using the wrong password.
