AirPlay unable to connect on same Wi-Fi network.

It has worked in the past; why not now?

Hi,

I got the same issue too and I think it could be linked to 2 things, one or the other, or both, I still don't know.

First, I could stop my HomePods Mini to update to IOS 16. So this could be the problem while all my devices are on IOS 15.7. I must also mention that my Apple TV is on IOS 16 but doesn't seems to show any problem.

Secondly, I noticed that it it could be linked to my new Internet provider. I changed recently and they sent me a new router as each time I change provider (that is ruffly every 2 years) and there seems to be some kind of lag or problem over persistent connection with this router. I got this problem with a connected plug that controls my living room lamp. There too I loose the connection from time to time. I have to dig on this side. I didn't have this issue with my previous provider and router.

Now, sometimes, my iPhone pops me an airplay message saying "Cannot connect to xyz" (xyz = my HomePods Mini). Or, when I try to control my lamp with my iPhone, it spins like it cannot reach the device.

So this is where I am for now.

Hello KazooBill,

To start, you'll want to provide a more thorough description of the issue. It looks like you're using an iPhone. What type of device are you trying to connect it to through AirPlay? What is happening when you try to connect? Is the iPhone not finding the AirPlay device at all? Is it found, but you get some sort of error message when you try to connect? If so, what is the error message? Etc.

Details like these will help give the community a better idea of what you're seeing so members can provide more relevant responses.

Here's some basic steps you can start with for AirPlay connection issues that may help:

  1. Make sure that your AirPlay-compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
  2. Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay or screen mirroring.

If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device

Cheers!
