I have a iPhone 7 Plus and since it isn’t getting iOS 16 I wanted to switch to a compatible device, wich will last me for about 3 years. I want something that is not very expensive (max 400$). I stumbled across the iPhone Xs and so I wanted to ask if it is worth buying in 2022.
The iPhone 7 was released in 2016 and isn't supported for iOS 16 in 2022.
The iPhone XS was released in 2018.
If the trend continues it wouldn't be supported for the latest iOS version in the fall of 2024.
To get to the fall of 2025 (3 years from now) you would need an iPhone 11 or later if the same trend continues.

Considering you can get a brand new iPhone se for $29 more, and it supports 5G, I'd say no. A XS is NOT worth $400 at this point.
The thing is that I don’t like the home button so I want to have the newest design. I’m fine with 2 years of support so I’m buying a Xs for 300$.
