Apple maps on apple watch

When I use apple maps on my apple watch. If I search for places and select a route from my apple watch, the directions show up as navigation and there is no icon to open the map, but when I go to the map on my iphone and click on the ‘go’ item, the maps on the apple watch appear as navigation and add an icon to open the chart as I marked. I would like to ask if there is a way to use apple watch to search and view navigation maps without opening the iphone?
