Pages not recognising any words

I have bought a new iPad Pro 2022 fully updated with regard to software. Unfortunately, Pages does not recognise many English words. A whole document will be red underlined everywhere. Even the simplest of words like ‘the, about, world, crown’ all red underlined. This was an issue posted about in 2021 but I could not see any resolution. I have tried everything users suggested then like updating software, re selecting language options, resetting the keyboard. I’ve tried everything but nothing works. I can switch off spelling check to get rid of the red lines which allows me to be able to work but for the eye watering cost of this iPad I shouldn’t have to forfeit spell check in pages!! Incidentally, the same document does not open like this on my phone so I’m finding it easier to edit documents on my phone. Defeats the purpose of buying the iPad though!! Help.
