iPhone 13 Pro overheating since the last update

My 13Pro is randomly overheating while charging with zero apps open in a cool environment, not streaming etc. just charging. It started doing this overheating thing about 2-3 weeks ago very soon after the iOS16 update. It has never had any overheating issues before. The battery seems to be draining exceptionally fast as well but I'm not charging it any more then I ever did really. Powering the phone off will almost immediately cool it down. But removing it from the charger does not particularly cool it down without powering it off. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does I get the error message that charging has stopped while the phone cools down as if it has been sitting in the sun for 3 hours. Any advice? Closest Apple store is 1.5 hrs away.

Hey there Sashall,

While you may need to get your iPhone inspected by a tech in person based on the details you provided us so far, we'd like to help rule out some possible causes:

  1. Are you charging with an Apple-branded charging cable and power block, or are you charging it with third-party accessories?
  2. What's the battery health percentage, and are any error messages showing if you check under Settings > Battery > Battery Health?
  3. You mentioned iOS 16 is installed, but the latest version is iOS 16.0.3. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  4. We also recommend making sure that all apps are up to date: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Cheers.
