AirPlay not working anymore after MacOS and iOS update to latest version

After the Update of my MacOS to the latest version 12.6 the Airplay stops working.

I am using the Sony TV with Airplay and Chromecast capabilities. Before the MacOS update AirPlay was working well and playing smoothly on the same MacBook Pro M1 and on the same Sony TV. After the each MacOS update, Airplay starts to degrade in performance and also not being able to connect and even if it was able to connect, it was not able to stream the video on the TV. I even brought my Macbook to the Sony TV store to test on all the newer Sony TV. The 2021 and 2022 latest models all could not play using AirPlay.

QuickTime could not work to play the MP4 video. Even Apple TV app could not play the MP4 video file using Apple Play.

I even tried the 3rd party Elmedia Video Player App on my Macbook. This app is at least better than the Apple solution. This app offered three casting protocols: Apple AirPlay, Google ChromeCast, and even the Sony Plug-n-Play DLNA casting.

When using Apple AirPlay to play the video on the Sony TV, it does NOT work.

But it works when I change it to ChromeCast and DLNA casting both works perfectly and even the streaming video quality was very smooth and in HiRes HD quality. This shows that there is nothing wrong with the video file, with the Sony TV and with the Macbook hardware.

I even tried using my iPhone to stream using Safari on certain website that supports AirPlay to cast the video on the Sony TV and it works but the quality is jerky and not smooth unlike if I change to ChromeCast and DLNA. AirPlay seems to even degrade the HighDefinition video and turn it into lower grade and jerky performance.

The shocking thing is after I update the iOS on my iPhone, now my iPhone could not stream the video using Airplay.

The problem lies in the iOS and MacOS recent updates. I wanted to revert back to the older version of iOS and MacOS when there were previously no problem with AirPlay, but was told by Apple Support that reverting back to older version could not be done.

This is really disappointing and frustrating.

Apple, please revert back whatever you are doing to AirPlay as it is either degrading the performance or it is causing compatibility problems with our AirPlay compatible TV such as Sony TV. The way Apple handles such technical issues are too overbearing and with no consideration for user.

Please provide a way for user to revert back our iOS and MacOS to previous version.

I brought my Macbook to Apple store to test and Airplay works on the Apple TV box but even the video quality was shown in lower resolution and also jerky. Compared to testing at home with my Sony TV with Airplay, it does not work at all after the MacOS update (on older MacOS, Airplay was working fine and quality was good). After update, even the video quality degrades when play via AirPlay onto the Apple TV box (hardware); it does not look like HiDefinition (HD) video while the MP4 file is clearly Full HD and at some point the video play back was even jerky. That's using the high speed WiFi network in the Apple Store. When I tested at home on Elmedia Video Play using the same Full HD Video file and using ChromeCast or PlugnPlay DLNA to my Sony TV, the video quality was very smooth and video is of Full HD quality (very sharp). But video could not be played using AirPlay onto my Sony TV after the MacOS and iOS update.

Whatever new stuff you are introducing to AirPlay it is negatively impacting Apple users. It is also affecting all the vendors which has devices that supports AirPlay (eg Sony for Sony TV). If you have any new features and new protocols you want to add to AirPlay, please call it AirPlay 2.0 and not change the protocol of the original AirPlay. This matter is obviously a problem with the change control of AirPlay that is build into your MacOS and iOS updates.

Like USB standards which has USB 1.x 2.x 3.x etc these version in the protocol standards makes it easier for vendors and users to manage the protocol updates and changes. I hope Apple could also do likewise for your Apple protocols such as AirPlay. Apple users do not just use Apple products alone, they also use other 3rd party vendors products as well such as Sony or LG TV, etc.
