Iphone 14 Pro Max Camera clicks when using Instagram

I just got my 14 Pro Max and noticed that when adding photos to my Instagram story (not actually taking photos with the app) there is a strange mechanical clicking noise from the camera. It seems random. I've seen other people mention this and I was curious if there has been a fix? I am on IOS 16.0.3 and the Instagram app is up to date.

Does this issue cause permanent damage to the camera? I've never heard an iPhone make a physical, mechanical noise so this is really concerning especially since this phone cost so much.

This issue is known by Apple, and it won't cause damage to the camera. To fix it, make sure you are on the latest version of iOS. You can learn how to update using this guide: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. If the issue is still present after the update, you can contact Apple Support.

16.0.2 is addressing a completely different issue unfortunately. My phone does not vibrate or cause blurry photos. It makes an audible clicking noise, and it's not when taking photos.

I appreciate the responses but hoping to hear from someone familiar with this particular issue. There is nothing to repair at this point. Apple has not been helpful at all in regards to this and keeps pointing towards Instagram as the issue even though it is clearly an iPhone hardware issue.

Really frustrating. This is my first new iPhone in six years and day one I can't even use Instagram and I have to worry that my expensive phone is damaged. Wishing I didn't buy the phone at this point.

That was my first step. And as mentioned multiple times above, Apple has no information or suggestions on this issue, which again, is why I was posting here. AppleCare won't help since Apple isn't considering it an issue. Was just hoping to get some help from other people experiencing this problem.

I'm also having this issue and it's pretty frustrating.

Until it's fixed I've revoked access to the camera on Instagram. I have however noticed it's an issue on another third party app tonight (Asda scan and go). However these are the only 2 apps I'm experiencing the issue with so far. It's frustrating to see there's been no resolution to this yet.

Thank you. As mentioned in my original post, I am currently on the latest IOS (16.0.3) and the issue is still present

I got you. Have the same problem. And don’t know what to do. Also my lens is piping up and done for a second when I open any camera app. Apple please see this and tell us what to do
