I upgraded my 14 pro max to 16.0.2, but this problem still exists. I found a video that presents this issue:

If you want to reproduce this problem. You can put your phone very close to a target, then relaunch the Instagram application and open the camera. You can hear this clicking noise.
How to fix it? Or is it a new feature?

To the OP. After the update, did you do a Forced Restart? If no, do it and see if that resolves this for you.

I have tried to recreate this issue since so many have mentioned it and I haven’t been able to do it. If 16.0.2 hasn’t resolved it then definitely contact Apple so they will be aware. Of course it’s not a new feature…otherwise Apple wouldn’t have released an update trying to address it.

Immediately update your 14 Pro Max to iOS 16.0.2, which was released today and specifically addresses this issue.
They said in their initial post that they already upgraded to 16.0.2.
Still does not work for me. And this noise only appears on third-party applications. I don't know why? But still very thank you for your answer.
I'd recommend you reach out to Apple Support then. The update today was to fix issues with the cameras having issues with 3rd party apps like Instagram, etc.
