Is it really not possible to approve my child's App Store requests via email, web or PC? Do I have to use an apple device to be able to do this simple task?
(Or should we return the ipads and go with an Android tablet instead?)
Ok, so a return to the store with the ipads then... I will NOT buy another just to be able to approve. Last apple product I will buy.

A compatible Apple device is required in order to approve a request via the Ask to Buy feature:
If you're the family organizer, use your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, or Mac to approve or decline a request.
