Erasing and reinstalling for trade in

So, I got to the part after following directions for erasing the content, etc. Want to reinstall the OS.

I went to put the info on to get on my wifi, which I had never had a problem with before. got the wifi address and the passcode in and could not get online to finish the work. It will not let me on with that machine. So far I can not reinstall the OS.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what is going on and why? How to get the reinstalling done?

I would appreciate info on this as I am not a tech. Seems that following directions is not always 100%.

It might be hard to troubleshoot such a WiFi issue from afar. But since all you want to do is initialize your Mac, it might work easier if you do this through an ethernet cable (you may need an adaptor for your MacBook Air).

Yes, reinstalling the MacOS requires a reliable internet connection. You were unable to connect to your WiFi so I am suggesting use an ethernet cable directly from your modem or router. That will connect immediately to the internet and enable your MacOS install to proceed.

If this continues to be a problem, you can do this in an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, if there is one near you.

I just have to pick up the ethernet cable for it. Then hopefully it will be better. I liked the air-I just do not use like I want everyday. I use my 24 inch 2021 imac desktop.

I will be getting a mini iPad 6 as it is more portable and easier to carry with me to use with my apple 2 pencil. Looking forward to it. Hate to trade in my air, but just not using it like I thought I would be.
