How do I keep my Apple News from closing on my 8th generation IPad? It happens frequently when I open the app and start to read the news. . I pressed on the icon to remove the app on my Home Screen and then, went to reinstall. However, I’m not certain it was completely deleted and reinstalled by that action. It opened immediately from the App Store without any apparent installation.

Hello 09-02-11,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We see you're looking to delete the app, but may have only removed it from the Home Screen. We'd be glad to help with the steps to delete the app to see if that clears up what's occurring. Check them out below, and you can learn more details here: Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

How to delete an app

1. Touch and hold the app.

2. Tap Remove App Remove App icon.

An iPhone screen showing the menu that appears when you touch and hold an app. Remove App is the third option in the menu.

3. Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

In addition to giving that a try, review the following resource to see if these steps help out: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

Let us know if this continues to occur. Confirm whether you were able to delete the app and download it again, and let us know which iPadOS version you're currently using.

Have a great day!
