Spinning wheel in keychain access

Hi all, thanks in advance for any suggestions


Every time I open Keychain Access, I get the spinning wheel and are unable to open specific records. I may be lucky enough to be able to search, or scroll, but it is essentially unusable. The application is showing as not responding and essentially needs force quitting. The keychain appears to be running correctly, with passwords autofilling etc. This is occurring on a laptop and iMac connected to the same appleID, both running 12.6.


The issue seems to have started when I updated the phone to iOS 16 so wonder if it has something t do with the iCloud keychain and how it is implemented in iOS 16 and possibly causing issues?


I have tried the restart, restart in safe mode, delete plist in pref etc with not success.


Any suggestions appreciated before I try turning off iCloud keychain and seeing if that makes a difference

If you see "Software update is required to connect to your iOS device" on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (CA)


Have seen this back when iOS15 was initially released and is appearing again since iOS 16 was released.


This may require more patience as Apple gets around to actually fixing this issue

Thanks of the response - Id did on one of the devices, but that was after this issue was noted


The issue is with the Keychain access app on OS 12.6 not responding

This is occurring across 2 computers using the same appleID - making me this it has something to do with the iCloud keychain

And the issue only occurred after updating my phone to iOS16. My understanding is there may be changes in iOS16 with passkeys so wondering if this may have somehow caused an issue

Self correction and should read " Will get back to you but running 2 computer with Monterey 12.6 "


You can try, shutdown one of the affected computers. One the other affected computer - in System Preferences >> Internet Accounts >> iCloud >> Keychain and untick Keychain.


The restart the computer and reverse the above actions. We are attempting to Force a re-Sync of Keychain


How does it seem to work ?


Still issues, this time Sign Out of iCloud and again restart computer. The Sign Back Into iClod. Same thing trying to Force a re-Sync of iCloud.


If all goes well - introduce the Other Affected computer into the scenario and Test
