Bluetooth to Honda HRV no longer playing sounds

Bluetooth is on, phone works. But other phone sounds like Waze or google maps instructions or messages or any other phone sound notifications do NOT play anymore over the car speakers while car radio is playing - radio stays on, I hear no Waze. I can only hear waze if I switch the input source on the Honda console directly to Bluetooth (therefore can’t listen to car radio).

phone sounds SHOULD override and play over the car system.

The phone claims to be playing on “Handsfreelink”, but it isn’t.

It was fine last week… iOS 16 glitch?

I can switch output on the phone from “handsfreelink” to itself ( “iphone”) to at least hear waze or other phone notifications on the phone itself,  but that’s ridiculous, I should still hear it over the car system as it was.

any clues?

I’ve done “forget this device” in Bluetooth settings and Re-established the connection several times.

and I DO NOT have Do Not Disturb While Driving on, in fact I removed that focus altogether.
