Logic pro downloads new sound library items to wrong location

Hi there,

This relates to Logic Pro 10.7.4

I installed around half (at a guess) of the sound library.

I used the tool in LP to move it to my external SDD.

Later I downloaded some more items in the Sound Library Manager. Yet they end up installing to my local disc. What's more, LP seems to then not "see" the files on the external SSD after I relaunch it. It will give me a prompt to the effect that the sound library link is broken (paraphrasing here), and ask if I want to keep the library on the local disk, or restore the link. I can then click a "Keep" or "Link" button. (first button might say something other than "Keep"... but you get the picture).

If I click "Link" the problem doesn't go away. After next relaunch, same issue.

If I click "Keep" (or whatever the button on the left is) I am left with only the files LP that were installed during the most recent download, which are on my local disc.

I have been around this loop at least 8 times in the past couple of days. It's consumed massive amounts of my relatively limited broadband connection.

Is this a known bug? Or is there something I am overlooking? Or ... ?

Here's the exact info that displays after relaunching LP, after it has downloaded additional sound library content (which seems to always end up on the internal drive, instead of the external where I previously moved the library to):

The link to the sound library location has been modified.
You can either keep the sound library on ‘Macintosh HD’ or fix the link to ‘Music Creation Libraries’.

Clicking "Link" doesn't resolve the issue. Clicking "Keep" results in ONLY the local drive data being recognised by LP.

It seems to me the reason Logic is reporting the link has been modified is because it has modified the link. Where it had set up symbolic links for itself, pointing to the external drive data, it has now replaced those symlinks with actual "Logic" and "GarageBand" folders, rendering the external folders inaccessible (as they were accessed via the symlinks).

Reading this page: Move Logic Pro and MainStage content - Apple Support

I see this stated:

Download additional content
When you download additional Sound Library content for Logic Pro or MainStage from Apple, it's installed in the new location. To download additional content, choose Logic Pro > Open the Sound Library, select the content you want to download, then click Install. To install all content, click Select All Uninstalled, then click Install.

I find that's not what's occurring. Consistently.

What might cause that to be the case?
