Where Are my Media Files in Monterey?

I have a new Mac Studio, running Mac OS 12.6. I have finally got my playlists and my music/TV/Movies functioning on my desktop and on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, but it has not been simple.

All my media files are in a folder called "iTunes Music", created in December 2001. When I went past Catalina, I created a TV library and a Music Library. I finally figured out how to import my Home Videos into the TV folder (where my TV library resides), and my NEWLY PURCHASED Movies are there as well.

The problem is moving the TV and Music libraries in the future. Is the original content still in "iTunes Music". with the TV and Music libraries just a set of links pointing to the content? In the Music folder that contains my Music Library (on an external HDD) it looks like all music has been copied over, but no Home Videos or Movies. The Home Videos are in the TV folder/Home Videos, but the Movies are all still in iTunes Music.

This can get screwed up pretty quickly. Does this all sound correct?

iTunes Music is the old name for the media folder. It changed to iTunes Media for new libraries back in iTunes 9. With Music the default location of the media for a converted iTunes library is whatever folder it was using, for a new Music library it would be Media in the folder containing the Music Library.musiclibrary database.

With Macs being somewhat more forgiving than Windows when you files around within the same volume, you might want to move and rename your iTunes Music folder so it becomes ~/Music/Music/Media and move your video content into the ~/Movies/TV/Media folder.
