While our Mac is resting it will light up and make a knocking sound and the cursor appears on the screen. It’s been getting more frequent rebooting the Mac off doesn’t seem to help. I can’t find an explanation for this. It used to only do this occasionally but has increased to going off every few minutes. The sound isn’t mechanical it’s a sound being played out of the speaker.
does anyone have any ideas. We’ve had this Mac for less than a year.

The screen turns on? What does the screen display?

the screen turns on but stays black the only image is the cursor. When it’s done knocking it goes back to sleeping.
It’s kind of like when you first turn on a tv and the screen is black but it’s the pixels making the colour.
