MagSafe charging not working after latest update to 16.0

It seems that the latest IOS update to 16.0 made the magsafe charging unreliable. If I shut the phone off and then back on it will start charging using the magsafe. When I put it on the charger without restarting it, the charge ring & charging indicator are there but it's not charging. This is on the apple charger and also an after market charger that it does the same thing. It worked without issues before the IOS update last week.
