After 15.7 my iPhone 6s Plus crashes after 15.7

After 15.7 my iPhone 6s Plus crashes. Seems battery related. Yes, my battery is degraded to 80% efficiency but it was fine before the 15.7. Now it will be at 100% and in a few min will crash and drop to 1-10% requiring power. All after 15.7 update.

Exactly the same thing. After I updated my wife's phone to 15.7, the battery consumption is catastrophic. The phone is actually useless. The battery has already been replaced once at an authorized Apple service center and is currently at 87%. The phone is discharged within 8 hours without almost any use. Maybe a few calls made and that's it. Before the update, the phone worked without any problems, the battery was OK and lasted the whole day without any problems.

Does the iPhone still have the original battery?

iPhone 6S Plus is > 7 years old, which also affects the battery life. The hardware remains old, so does the battery.

Having the battery replaced by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Providers may resolve the issue, if it is still possible.

The battery can be replaced by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

I am aware I can replace the battery. My question is why? What did Apple do to my phone to require this? If this were a car you would take it to a service center, they would do work on it, when you get it back you would go from 20 mpg down to 3 mpg. After bringing it to their attention they would say “Just buy a new car”. Would you accept that? Why did an update cause a working phone to now fail?
