Mac. my magic keyboard shift button has stopped working. no capitals, symbols etc

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 12.6

Try a USB Keyboard and Test if the Shift Key works.

Could be a malfunction of the keyboard itself - needs repairs or replacement

I had absolutely no keyboard issues until right now. Perhaps it's just funny timing? I've tried popping the keys off and cleaning underneath but it hasn't helped. I also tried pairing the keyboard to my MacBook Pro just now and it's doing the same thing. It's odd because sometimes those keys will work and I can do 100+ test presses and they type every time... then it stops again. It seems particularly triggered when I try to capitalize one of the letters, oddly. If I hold shift and then press one, even if they are currently working - they STOP working.

Keyboard problems I have a new MacBook Air 2019), and today the right side of the keyboard stopped working. Just letters, not symbols. The weird thing is when I connected the laptop to my Magic Keyboard it did the same thing.
