Apple USB-C AV adapter audio capabilities

Hello lovely people, I am trying to connect my new iPad Pro to my receiver via HDMI in order to listen to Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless tracks using the receiver’s built-in DAC. I have tried to connect it using an USB-C to HDMI cable however somewhere along the path the audio gets converted to PCM 48kHz and that’s what is shown on my receiver. My question is if I buy the Apple USB-C AV adapter would it pass the full resolution Hi-Res stream to the receiver using the HDMI output?

Thanks for your help!
