Keep Audio on Bluetooth when Charging in Car

I have a Bluetooth headset that I wear when in the 2021 Chevy car. My car has CarPlay. When I elect to charge my phone in the car, the audio from my iPhone moves to the car’s audio and away from my Bluetooth device. Bluetooth still shows connected, but audio is playing through the car’s speakers.

Carplay is turned OFF on both the iPhone and the car.

How can I charge in the car and keep audio on my Bluetooth device?

Hello ifdinc,

This page can help out with showing how to change the audio output: Switch your AirPods to another device - Apple Support

While the page is for AirPods, the steps below will help even if you may not be using AirPods:

Switch manually
If necessary, follow these steps to choose a different device to play audio or to switch the audio to different headphones or speakers.
Control Center screen on your iPhone
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. Open Control Center on your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.
2. Touch and hold the audio card in the upper-right corner of Control Center to control audio.
3. Tap , then choose the device that you want from the list.

Cheers.
