Cancel purchase

I’d like to cancel an Apple Books order I made by mistake. It is now pending for 3 days. Apple says they can’t act until it’s no longer pending & then they might get me a refund. My credit card doesn’t stop payment or refund unless the price is over $50. Any way to remove this book that I don’t want & will never read?
