iOS Lift Feature Paste Question

I have what might be a basic question concerning the new, much discussed, lift feature available in iOS 16. Is there a way, once the image has been copied, to paste it onto a second photo using just the iPhone photos app? Perhaps I am missing a step, but I am able to make a new "cut out" photo using the selected image (white background around my selected subject) but there does not seem to be a way to simply "paste" that cut-out image onto a second photo. Thanks for any tips/tricks all!

Hello Bob Krugmire,

We understand you want to know if you can use the new Lift feature in the Photos app to paste apart of a photo into another photo. We'll do our best to assist with this.

According to this, you could use this feature with the following:

Lift a subject from the photo background

You can lift the subject of a photo away from the background so you can copy and share it in other documents and apps.
1. Open a photo.
2. Touch and briefly hold the subject of the photo. When it’s outlined, do one of the following:
- Tap Copy, then paste the subject into an email, text message, or note.
- Tap Share, then choose a sharing option, such as AirDrop, Messages, or Mail.

A photo is open in full screen. The subject in the center of the photo is outlined and the Copy and Share buttons appear above the outlined subject.

You would be unable to use another photo within the Photos app.

If you have feedback about this feature that you'd like to provide to Apple, we'd suggest doing so here: Product Feedback - Apple

Wishing you well, cheers.
