I have just set up a new Apple Watch Series 8 and I want to switch on the 'unlock with Apple Watch' setting but the iMac says it cannot connect with the watch! I make sure that the watch is active and iPhone is active, all on same Apple ID. my series 6 was working fine with this for the last 2 years but now this is happening, why!!??

I have the same issue.
With my Series 3 my new 16" MacBook Pro will unlock instantly! With my new Series 8 it takes ages to unlock the machine.

I picked up my Watch 8 today and am having the same problem. My old Watch 5 worked fine but I keep the getting the error that says my Mac (2021 16" MacBook Pro w/M1 Pro processor) cannot connect to my watch. Further, my old Watch 5 still shows up in the Security & Privacy/General preference pane
Series 8 watch will not unlock my iMac no matter how many times I restart the iMac.
