Upgraded to iOS 16 today and noticed that the group chat I’m in (all iPhones) is now showing my messages sending as text instead of iMessage.
In addition, sending a message to myself sends as text now. My contact card appears to show my number in green (not blue). I think because my contact is in green that’s also why the group is sending as text (doesn’t think I’m on an iPhone).
help!

Well that's the first place I noticed it. I messed around with "My Card" in contacts and was able to get it so I could send iMessages (instead of Texts) to myself now.
However, that group is still messed up. What's really odd is that there are 4 people in the group. On my wife's phone (not iOS16), the group shows as 3 people (not including herself). On my phone it shows as 4 people (shows myself included).
I think that's the issue - the group somehow includes an "instance" of myself that iOS thinks isn't on iMessage.
It appears that I can create a new chat group by sending an iMessage to the 3 other people...but have a feeling that will "orphan" the original chat group.
I did see over on Reddit that some other folks are running into the same issue on iOS16 (specifically about messages to "self" now showing as texts instead of iMessages).
Is this only happening in that particular group texting OR does it happen when you separately send a message to another iPhone owner?
