I was told today at Apple Store Aventura that Migration Assistant could no longer be used and that I should schedule a call with Apple to migrate the days of my old MacBook If to the new one I purchased. I returned the new computer.

Why did Apple decide not to allow use of Migration Assistance? Isn’t it silly?

MacBook, macOS 11.1

Did you encrypt your Time Machine backup? If so, you need to use the user name and password that created that backup and not the one you have on the new Mac. With the latest of security features you may need to do that anyway.

Are you possibly using your AppleID instead?
