Find My Friends does not work after using Google Maps in CarPlay

After using Google Maps through Car Play my friends could not be found and my position was not reported in the Apple apps. I turned my device phone off and on and still had this problem. When I joined Car Play again and switched to Apple Maps this problem went away. This seems to be a bug.
