MAIL CLIENT WAS RUINED IN CATALINA. HAS IT BEEN FIXED IN LATER OS'S?

The ability to modify the view and display of information of the Apple Mail client in versions previous to Catalina was robust and worked well for most. With the change to Catalina, the ability to manipulate column width and other view features was eliminated. This is a productivity killer for me, and may be a game changer in a bad way. Does anyone know if the ability to customize your Mail view has been restored in later OS's?
