Why Logic Studio has CPU and Disk I/O Spikes in Mac Studio Max (64 GB. 1 TB)?

With my old Mac Mini Intel, I had no issues recording 30 - 40 tracks of Midi, Audio tracks with relatively 2-5 native, and Waves plugins. I had a huge hope that I will be able to create large orchestrations using M1 Native plugins and Logic Pro. But I am having total frustration from day one I bought the Mac Studio. Interestingly I never had issues with Final Cut Pro, and shows amazing performance.

The Logic Team in Apple seems to be lacking in optimizing the Application with M1 Silicon. I am constantly seeing single core within the performance monitor spiking. Sometimes the Midi instruments are causing CPU spikes creating crackling and popping sounds.

Mac Studio is supposed to get me creative - not reading through and exploring various configuration changes and hoping to resolve this problem. But so far, I am just frustrated as I have lost my creativity and getting buried under anger and frustration.

Can you please help me????

Dear Pancenter,

I did not realize that the site under Apple.com doesn't have anyone from Apple to listen to our issues and help. Thanks for your support and for reaching out to me with queries.

  1. My projects are mostly 48 kHz.
  2. My external drive is Lacie External USB C SSD Drive (APFS)
  3. I use only the plugins which are Native M1 supported. I had a hard time with Rosetta-supported Midi VSTs/Plugins.
  4. My current interface is Presonus Studio 1810c (upgrading to Quantum 2626 this week), and the buffer is 256.
  5. When I record any Midi, I use the low latency mode.

That is my setup. BTW changing my project's Process Buffer range to Medium (from Large) crashed my Logic.

Regards,

Naweed
