Macbook Air M2 & Dell S3221QS flickering.

Same issue as Mac mini M1 & Dell S3221QS flickering. - Apple Community but with a macbook air.

Ive had both my Macbook Air M2 and Dell monitor for over a year now and I'm still not able together to the bottom of the constant flickering and fine vertical bars. I use the monitor with an Intel MacBook Pro with absolutely no issues using USB-C to HDMI.

I have been through the various threads on here but no-one, it seems, has come up with a solution.

Things I have tried:-

    • USB-C to HDMI - I get the flickering and vertical stripes.
    • Other USB-C to HDMI - I get the flickering and vertical stripes.

The fact that this monitor seems to work ABSOLUTELY FINE with non-M2 computers suggests to me the issue is with the Apple side of things.

Has anyone found a reliable solution to this?

Hello stucki15,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Does the issue persist if you adjust your resolution.

"Adjust the resolution

  1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, then click Displays.
  2. In Display Settings, select the external display in the sidebar, then press and hold the Option key while you click Scaled to see additional resolutions.
  3. Select a resolution, then click Done.

If the expected resolution doesn't appear for your display, check the specifications page to see what display resolutions your Mac supports."

More details can be found here: If your external display isn't detected or appears blurry when connected to your Mac

If the issue persists, let's test in safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode Also, have you tested any other displays with your M1 Mac?

Cheers!
