Assuming that one or both of your devices remain accessible to you, simply change the name of the device in Settings:

Settings > General > About > Name - change the name to something meaningful

When choosing a name, be aware that the chosen “name” is broadcast - and can be detected and seen by anyone with a suitable device. Choosing something meaningful to you - but not readily identifiable to somebody else, might help maintain your privacy and/or anonymity when in public places.

For example - naming your iPad as “Janes iPad Pro” might be really useful to you - but would this be a sensible name to broadcast to everyone within range when sitting in a railway carriage, as it may draw unwanted attention?

Perhaps consider that choosing a non-specific name can still be meaningful to you (e.g., “orion”) - but meaningless to somebody else that you’d rather not meet… 🙂
