AirPods Tracking Me (But They're My Own)

My daughter borrowed my AirPods once. Now, I keep getting an alert that my own AirPods are tracking me. How do I get my phone to realize these are MY AirPods? I've tried un-pairing and re-pairing them. Is there a way to link them to my Apple ID so my phone no longer thinks I'm being stalked?

Hello ShayBru,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand your AirPods are providing an alert similar to them being near you or "moving with you" for a while, as if they aren't yours. We have some steps to help with this specific issue. First, you'll need to unpair them again.

  1. Place AirPods in their charging case and close the lid
  2. Open Settings > Bluetooth
  3. Select AirPods, then tap Forget
  4. Reset AirPods using the steps from the articles linked below
  5. Re-pair AirPods

Here is how to reset your AirPods from step 4 above: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support.

Once you've paired them back to your device, see how they do. Keep us updated with how it goes.

Take care.
