Moving photos from downloads to photos

I recently returned from an Africa trip. I took many pics on a Nikon D80 that is not Bluetooth capable. I downloaded them to my apple desktop and they are viewable in downloads but I would like to move them all to photos if possible. There are several hundred so I hope to avoid individual dragging of each one.
