Everytime I try to update my laptop to MacOS Monterey, it says I need an administrator to put in a pin, I don't have an administrator

I don't know how to update my mac to ios 10.5

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

You can't update your Mac to iOS 10.5. Macs don't run iOS. Monterey is macOS 12. The current version is 12.5.1.

What OS are you currently running?


If you are the only user, you are the administrator. Did someone else set up the Mac?

Normally, macOS doesn't ask for a PIN. It would ask for an administrator user password. Is it really asking for a PIN and not the password?

Can you take a screen shot of it asking for a PIN and post it here using the image insertion button?
