Pages Beachballing in Mojave

I have a 2017 iMac running Mojave [need still for Aperture] and today this just started == open Pages, beach balling, wait and do a small edit. Try to print and beach balling. Force Quit Pages and same thing happens again several times. It's still BB and I'm up to 5 minutes and counting as it continues. Suggestions? Did not happen before this.

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Update == when I finally got one small Pages doc to print the printer screen came up with all the printers gone [I have a Brother, DYMO and Canon and they were there a day or so ago] - so I then force quit and went to System Preferences to add them back in and got beach balling in SysPrefs for several notes until it came up and I am now trying to add back those 3 printers but still getting beachballs when I try to select the USE thing = the 3 printers show up but it takes forever for the printer software to come up [Brother uses CUPS so I need to select it from the list]

I did that yesterday = I held down the Shift key for more than 10 Min. and finally had to stop [life at time intrudes] and reboot normally. I tried last night to add the 3 printers to SysPref/Printers but again beachballs -- I'm going to try to Safe Boot again and hope it will work. It's possible the Pages issue relates to the SysPre/Printing issue = a couple of days before all 3 printers showed up and worked. Then they disappeared [why I do not know] and the beach balling starts when I try to add them back = the 3 possibilities show up finally but only after long delay and then when I select one it beachballs and won't add back. As I said, I'll try the Safe Boot today and hope it helps. Thank you.
