Macbook Air M1 Battery dead

I have a Macbook air M1 which is little over an year old (12 months)

it clocked just 32 charge cycles.

suddenly while charging today , the battery stopped charging and went to 1 percent.

now, its saying service required.

how can the battery be dead in just 32 charge cycles with just average use?

no overcharging, no use of heavy applications, nothing unusual
