recording from tape deck to iMac

I used to record from tape deck to Mac with an iMic but I can't remember the settings i

n iMac sound preferences. The instructions for the iMic say: set up your computer to use iMic as its sound input device. Then it gives a website to find the iMic user guide for selecting the computer's sound settings. Unforotunately that website is no longer available - I just got the 404 error. Is anyone familiar with the iMic and can tell me exactly what to select in settings for input and output. I've tried all options and nothing seems to work. Thanks.
