Monterey and Epson Perfection 4990 compatibility

I just upgraded to Monterey (12.5) OS from Mojave, and now find my Epson Perfection 4990 (version 20 (594) won't work! what can I do?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.5

Have you tried going to the Epson support site to see if they have an updated driver for this printer that is compatible with macOS Monterey?
