display old emails

I have a new Mac, with the newest OS, using Apple mail. IMAP. Why can't I see incoming emails from more than 30 days ago? I do see all the sent emails, but not the ones I received. Apple support could not help me. Can anyone else?/

Hi dennisfrombc,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

If you haven't already:

✽. You might check your eMail account(s) online to see if there are any settings for how long new messages are kept,

or, if there is a limit on how many eMails (or Mb) are stored. (You may find the older eMails in the inbox(es) there ?)

✽. You might want to double-check what preferences are set in Mail app on Mac:

Change preferences in Mail on Mac – Apple Support

✽. You might want to try searching for a particular older eMail

(Perhaps they are somehow being "archived" in another mailbox?)

Search for emails in Mail on Mac – Apple Support

or

Show emails from VIP senders in Mail on Mac – Apple Support

✽. Might there be unwanted filters or rules set ?

Eg: You can use filters to show only certain email messages in a mailbox

Filter emails in Mail on Mac – Apple Support

Eg: A rule could be set to automatically move messages from your inbox

Use rules to manage emails you receive in Mail on Mac – Apple Support

All the best :-)

Thankyou you for your ideas brbo, unfortunately I can still not see them.

There are no email filters / rules of any kind. Nothing in archives.

The odd thing is that I can not see anywhere in the Apple email configurations where you could change/limit the number of messages or the size of the mailbox.

I checked the webmail option - and it is unlimited. I did not see any limitations.

Any more help, anyone?

Thank you for your reply, dennisfrombc, and for letting us know you still need help.

(The only other option that comes to mind is looking for the older emails on an older back-up of your data.

Guess you would have gone through that idea with Apple.)

Hopefully, someone with more expertise in this area, than either of us, may have a suggestion or answer

Cheers :-)
