Why are mp3 files converting to .amr when texted to Android users? (They also sound horrible when received on the other end.) Problem is the same whether text is sent from laptop or iPhone.
Have never had this issue before. My phone carrier claims nothing unusual is happening on their network.

OrigamiFan1 and Johnb-one - thanks for the suggestions. But my real question is why this would start happening after years of sending mp3s this way to the same people and never having had a problem.
My understanding is you have to have a converter to make this happen. There are all sorts of hits on the web about converting mp3 to .amr.
Do you now, or have you had, a converter installed on your Mac? Could another user have installed one if you didn't?
The hits I found were about WANTING to covert from one to the other. My problem is that if I text an MP3, it shouldn't convert to something else somewhere between me and the recipient. Or did I misunderstand what you were suggesting?
yeah, what, ku4hx and OrigamiFan1 posted..... your wireless carrier might not support that feature for messaging/iMessage and SMS....especially on iPhone...could you maybe .zip or compress the files, save it in its zipped or compressed form, and then attach it to an email and send it to them. ?? Is there a website you could upload the .mp3 to, eg Megashare , Google, DropBox and then direct the Android user to go there to go get it......
