How To Access Files From Chrome

How can I enable Google chrome to access my local files? I tried System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Files & Folders, but chrome isn't listed as an app and the + button is disabled. I am attempting to upload a document for an assignment submission.

When you try to open a document, the OS should ask if you want to allow Chrome access to your Documents, Desktop.

If it doesn't, you can try adding it to Full Disk Access.

You cannot manually add items to Files & Folders.
