AirTag for Anti-Theft (AirTag Experts Only, Please)
Hello,
I have a few questions for the Apple AirTag experts out there, as I’m (possibly) planning on developing a product for Apple AirTag. I won’t hold anyone liable for misinforming me in this thread, as I’m just looking for a few answers to get on the right path.
Situation: let’s say I have a vacation home that I rarely visit. I have a valuable set of golf clubs in the garage there that I don’t want to have stolen. In an effort to prevent theft, before I left, I placed an AirTag in my golf bag with a brand new battery in the tag. I won’t return to my vacation home for six months.
Question 1: How much time exactly shall transpire until the AirTag begins to beep due to my absence?
Question 2: is it possible to set my vacation home as an area that it doesn’t need to beep as it is my home and the tag is certainly not lost when it’s there?
Question 3: does the AirTag beeping (only) occur when the tag begins to move after being abandoned for some time?
Question 4: is there any way to disable this beeping, as a thief might discover this beeping immediately and remove the AirTag from my golf bag?
Question 5: is it against the AirTag terms of service agreement (or is it possibly illegal) to remove the speaker element from an AirTag housing?
Question 6: would Apple possibly frown upon the re-sale of “modified” AirTags that had their speakers removed?
Any answers that could be mustered to the above question would be greatly appreciated. Overall, I hope to use AirTag as an anti-theft device, but have concerns over leaving out of my range for extended periods and it alerting potential perpetrators of its existence.
Thanks!
