This issue has existed since the M1 machine was new in November 2021 and indeed is a replacement for the original which had a M1 motherboard issue. So it has been switched on and off an infinite number of times. There is only one user, me. So to recap ever since Monterey 12.01 upto 12.5, Auto history delete options in Safari have never ever worked only manual deletions work.
JMAMBP14,
Thank you.
Please continue with creating a new user account on your Mac. Testing in a new user will tell us if user specific permission issues may keep Safari from properly deleting history automatically. Be sure to log out of your current user account completely before testing in the new account.
"1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups
.
If the lock at the bottom left is locked , click it to unlock the preference pane.
2. Click the Add button below the list of users.
3. Click the New Account pop-up menu, then choose a type of user.
For more information about the options for each type of user, click the Help button in the lower-left corner of the dialog.
4. Enter a full name for the new user. An account name is generated automatically. To use a different account name, enter it now—you can’t change it later.
5. Enter a password for the user, then enter it again to verify. Enter a password hint to help the user remember their password.
6. Click Create User.
7. Depending on the type of user you create, you can also do any of the following:

Clearing all history and website data will work when you browse with safari ( cookies will work set to new window and private browsing should not be enabled ) , in the thread the screen shot posted the home page is not set ( the search engine field is start with home page ) Change your home page in Safari on Mac - Apple Support
Hey JMAMBP14,
Are you under the General tab in Safari Preferences? If so, are you only getting the pop-up when you select Manually?
Do you experience the same issue when you open Safari > click History from the Safari Menu > and then Clear History. A drop box will appear with different options. This information will help us isolate the issue. To see more, click here: Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac.
We'll wait to hear back. Take care.
Greetings JMAMBP14,
Try to power off and restart the Mac. Follow these steps: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support. We know this sounds like a simple step, but sometimes a fresh restart can correct unusual behavior that may arise.
Does the issue happen with a specific user? If you do not have an alternate user you may need to create one to test with. Here's more information on that process: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support. This will indicate if the problem is system-wide or feature/setting specific for a user.
Cheers!
JMAMBP14,
To make sure we're on the same page, you tested in a newly-created administrator account and found that your Safari history is not clearing automatically "After one day" in that account either, correct?
If that's correct, we recommend getting in touch with Apple directly to look into this issue further. You'll find contact options in this link: Apple Support
Have a good one!
I know clearing all history MANUALLY works. My posted screenshot is no different to yours except instead of google i have start page.com for homepage. AUTO DELETE after one day however does not work!! with the settings shown on my screenshot. Are you telling me that yours does with the settings you have shown?
Look, if you cannot be bothered to read the threads thoroughly, then please go away and keep your thoughts to yourself. The motherboard problem was in the original M1 machine. This one is a brand new replacement machine. I cannot be clearer in explaining the issue.
You have changed the motherboard , visit apple authorised service centre once again Find Locations - Apple

Auto history delete options still not working.
Safari, Preferences, General, Remove history items, After One Day etc. Auto delete does not work.
There is no issue with Safari, History, Clear History, drop box options because these are Manual deletions.
